VAN BEVEREN PASSES AWAY

Former PSV & Netherlands goalkeeper Jan van Beveren has passed away recently. Van Beveren, whose career spanned over 20 years, represented Sparta Rotterdam for five years and then spent a decade at PSV, winning the Uefa Cup in 1978, before playing in the United States for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and the Dallas Sidekicks.

After retiring from the game, Van Beveren decided to stay in the USA, and was the goalkeeping coach of the Dallas Texans Soccer Club.

DUTCH CHILD BECOMES PRO

A one and a half year old Dutch footballer has shot his way to fame and a 10-year professional contract with his local champion's division football club, according to the Free Football Bet website.

Baerke van der Meij scored almost a million hits on YouTube after his father Jorg posted a film of the toddler shooting three balls into his toy box last week.

NETHERLAND CLUB HELPS HARYANA FOOTBALL

A Netherland club, Ado Den Haag, has recently signed a new contract with the Haryana Football Association to improve football in Haryana.

The coach, Technical Advisor and administrator along with their U-16 team will be arriving on February 27 for the singular purpose of:

1) To open/start football academies at grass-root level HaHin Haryana.

2) To hold workshops/clinics for coaches, referees, administrators in Haryana in order to update them on the most modern methods of football coaching etc.

BAYERN SOLVE ROBBEN PROBLEM

Bayren Munich have resolved the problem with the Dutch FA over Arjen Robben. The Dutch football association (KNVB) and Bayern Munich had been embroiled in a war of words for many months over Robben, with both sides pointing the finger of blame at the other for the former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger's injury problems.

But the German champions and KNVB now appear to have settled their dispute, agreeing to stage a one-off friendly at the Allianz Arena on May 22, 2012.

VAN DER SAR TO RETIRE

Dutch international Edwin van Der Sar has announced that he will be retiring from football at the end of the season. The former Netherlands international, 40, signed for the Old Trafford club from Fulham in 2005. He has played 245 times for United and helped them win the Champions League in 2008 and three Premier League titles. He told his management agency’s website that he feels it’s time to pay attention to his family.

LOOK LOY HAPPY ABOUT DUTCH ALLIANCE

Keith Look Loy has said that the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation has benefitted from its alliance with the Netherlands Football Association (KNVB). The ex-national youth team coach was speaking at the opening of the Dutch KNVB Coach Instructors Course hosted by the TTFF for the Caribbean at the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence in Macoya.

DE MUNCK DIES

Dutch soccer legend Frans de Munck has died at the age of 88. He was goalie at clubs including VV Goes, FC Köln, BV Veendam and SC Cambuur. His international debut was on 23 April 1949 in a friendly against France. The Dutch side won 4-1.

In 1953 he played for the national squad in a match against France which the Dutch won 2-1. The proceeds of the game went to the victims of the disastrous floods which had hit the southern Netherlands earlier that year and in which more than 1,800 people were killed.

NETHERLANDS TO PLAY BRAZIL

Netherlands have announced that they will be playing Brazil in a friendly. In the South Africa World Cup last summer, the Netherlands beat Uruguay in the semi-finals 3-2. The Dutch also knocked Brazil out of the competition with 2-1 in the quarter finals.

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk hopes his team will see some action next summer, as no qualifying matches are sceduled between March and September for the 2012 European Championships. the team will be built around Robin van Persie.

The Netherlands are set to bid for the World Cup 2018 along with Belgium. Belgium and the Netherlands have pitched their World Cup 2018 bid under the banner 'Together for Great Goals'. The Netherlands/Belgium bid focuses on creating a better world, and in particular, on the environment.

BAYERN TO SUE DUTCH

Bayern Munich are reportedly going to sue the Dutch National team for the injury caused to Robben during the international matches a few weeks ago. "If we don't manage to come to a just and reasonable agreement with the Dutch, we will have no other choice but to launch legal proceedings against them and their team doctor," Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told German television.

Rummenigge said he wanted a "seven-figure" sum in compensation after Robben aggravated a torn muscle in his left thigh which he picked up helping the Dutch reach the final of the World Cup in South Africa in June and July.
