Dick Advocaat makes his 3rd spell at the helm of Netherlands

For the 3rd time, Dick Advocaat was selected as the man to take charge of the Netherlands national side as he was confirmed for the head coaching position on May of 2017.

However, this time around, it might be Advocaat’s shortest managerial spell ever at the helm of Netherlands.

When Dick Advocaat was announced was announced as yet again the head coach of Netherlands, it was also stated that his initial contract will run up until the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification campaign which is going to be on October 10 of 2017 when Netherlands plays their last qualification match against Sweden.

However, if Netherlands are able to snatch a top 2 spot of Group A and manage to earn their qualification ticket into the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup then Dick Advocaat’s contract with the national side is going to be extended throughout the entirety of the approaching tournament.

Danny Blind Sacked from Dutch National Team

Danny Blind has paid the price for a poor World Cup qualification campaign at the helm of Netherlands.

The team had been coming on the back of yet another disappointment of failing to reach the Euro 2016. They have been hoping to make an impact at least at the World Cup 2018. However, being placed in a tough group containing Euro 2016 finalist France did not help matters. Netherlands have made an extremely poor start to the World Cup qualification campaign after managing only two wins the five matches. As a result, France have been able to open up a six-point advantage at the top of the table.

It 2-0 loss against Bulgaria was the last straw for the national team, who decided to take action by getting rid of Danny Blind. After having been an assistant coach prior to taking over as the full-time manager, Blind was appointed in August 2015. (more…)

Louis Van Gaal may not do Coaching anymore

Louis Van Gaal has surprisingly suggested that he may not be able to get himself back to soccer coaching again.

In the summer when he was making his way out of United, Van Gaal had not shut the door on his potential future employers.

He had stated back then that his coaching career still had some way to go and he would entertain new offers.

Thereafter in August, there were reports that he was interviewed by the Belgian federation, but, was unable to convince them with his project and was beaten by Roberto Martinez for the head coach job there.

Though he himself did not confirm whether he was indeed interviewed or not.

But recently he has revealed that he refused to pen a bumper deal with a club from Asia which was willing to pay him as much as 15 million Pounds per season. (more…)

SCOTLAND NAME SQUAD FOR NETHERLANDS CLASH

Scotland has named the squad that will prosecute the game against the Netherlands next week.

Scotland women are poised to face the Netherlands at Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Thursday. Coach Anna Signeul has named the female stars that will face the hosts in the Vauxhall International Challenge.

Erin Cuthbert was been called up, and it wasn’t any surprise following her recent form. She captained the Under 19 side in their qualification match, netting five goals in the 11-0 mauling of Albania. Ifeoma Dieke was also invited despite just regaining match fitness. Dieke suffered an injury before the game against Iceland, but she is expected to completely shake off the injury.

“We’re still on a high from qualification for the Euros and everyone is looking forward to preparing as best as possible for the next summer. We knwo the Netherlands well and they are physical, very tactical and have some brilliant players such as Vivianne Miedema who plays for Bayern Munich with Lisa [Evans],” Coach Signeul said.

Blind will not resign

Netherlands coach Danny Blind has stated that he will not resign and that he wants to remain as the national coach until the end of his contract.

Blind has been under intense pressure ever since he replaced GuusHiddink at the head of the Netherlands team last year. Indeed the team failed to qualify for the Euro in France and is in danger of failing again in the World Cup qualifiers.

Netherlands have been performing poorly for some time now, and the team did not manage to qualify for the Euro 2015 despite the fact that the competition was expanded to accommodate more teams. Many pundits believed that this was a natural cycle as the country was building a younger team for the new international tournaments but things do not seem to be improving.

Netherlands were beaten at home in a recent friendly match by Greece, and this has brought even more pressure on Danny Blind. The team seems to lack cohesion and a playing style, and there are no real signs of improvement.

The coach has stated that he has no plan to resign from his post as he believes he can still turn things around. He admitted that he is not the only one that can decide the future of the team, but he said that he has no intention to give up. He said that he has started working on a plan to improve the team, and he wants to continue.

GULLIT TO REPLACE ADVOCAAT IN NETHERLANDS COACHING CREW

Rudd Gullit is the replacement for Dick Advocaat after his recent surprise resignation.

Advocaat resigned from his former role in the national team coaching crew to join top Turkish club Fernerbahce. The former assistant coach only joined as assistant coach in May, leaving head coach Danny Blind “surprised and disappointed.”

Advocaat was the former coach of English Premier League side Sunderland until October last year. He accepted the Netherlands job this year, but has signed with the Turkish side. The Dutch Football Association (KNVD) confirmed the departure of the 68-year old. The Netherlands coaching crew didn’t take the news lightly, particularly with the World Cup qualifier due next month.

Coach Blind said: “I am surprised and disappointed. When I approached Dick in the spring, he gave me the impression that he was in it for the long haul. Anyway, it does not make sense to give too much thought. From now on we have to apply ourselves only the matches against Greece and Sweden.”
The Technical director Van Breukelen also expressed his disappointment, adding that they would find a replacement. Advocaat said he was just keen on the job as it was “a fantastic challenge” to get such an offer from a top club in Turkey at his age.

Netherlands want to rethink their football strategy

The Dutch football federation is currently working on a plan to develop their football after their recent poor results.

Indeed, the Dutch football team has not succeeded in qualifying for the Euros, and it seems that the trend will continue for the next few years with a lack of world-class footballers coming up.

It is difficult to think that a team that finished third at the last World Cup has experienced such a decline, but there are various reasons for that. First of all, there might be a sense complacency around the team thinking that they are already at the top.

Secondly, it appears also that they have also been a decline in the quality of their players. Two of their best players at the last World Cup Robin Van Persie and Wesley Sneijder are playing in the Turkish league while Arjen Robben seems to be a player that is past his best.

The Dutch federation admitted that there is a problem with the development of new players and that there need to be corrective measures taken. Indeed, the Netherlands were once recognized for their model of football development, but it seems that their approach is no longer working.

Danny Blind claims that England should be Backed Fully

Danny Blind claims that England should be treated with a lot of respect ahead of Netherlands’ friendly at the Wembley.

He says that England’s performance against Germany is a testament that the team has improved a lot under Roy Hodgson in the last two years. It was only recently that the club were knocked out of the World Cup 2014 from the group stages. Hodgson, whose job was on the line back then, embarked on a mission to find talented youngsters fit for the national team. This led to the inclusion of many new players like Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Ross Barkley, and John Stones into the national team fold.

They have certainly made an impact and the recent 3-2 win over Germany, who are the reigning world champions, proves this fact. Blind says that it is special in a team manages to come from 2-0 down against the world champions to win the game 3-2. The Netherlands coach also singled out Dele Alli for special praise. The 20-year-old was playing in the Championship and League One with MK Dons only recently, but he has now started dominating the England national team in the last one year since joining Spurs. Netherlands finding hard to get into Euro Cup

Netherlands was among the last 4 teams in World Cup and now, a couple of years down the line, they are not even in Euro main draw and that, the boss Danny Blind believes, is something that everyone involved in the country’s Football is finding hard to accept.

In Blind’s view, now, the team should be built in a way that the young players are given some key roles as it’s up to them to make Netherlands become a world class team again in future.

However, Blind doesn’t want all the older players to be sidelined completely. According to him, the legends like Robben and others who are going around, Netherlands still has a lot to gain from them.

But, as far as the development of the team is concerned, for that it’s necessary the youngsters are drafted in and play along with those few veterans so that they learn how to go about it at this level.

Some of the Dutch veterans who are normally the guaranteed picks are injured right now and would be missing out in England friendly giving Blind the opportunity to see where the youngsters whom he is talking about stand with their game and whether they are good enough or not. (more…)

Netherlands fails to qualify for Euro 2016 but Danny Blind won’t quit

Netherlands has failed to qualify and get into the Euro 2016 after losing against Czech Republic with a final scoreboard which displayed 3-2 in favor of the Czech team which managed to finish at the top of Group A with 22 points while Netherlands had to settle with the 4th spot which wasn’t enough for them to get past the group stages of the European competition.

Danny Blind and his players simply couldn’t collect enough points to secure a higher position in Group A but despite this early exit from the Euro 2016, the 54 year old Dutch coach has stated that he will not give up on his team and he wants to continue being in charge of the national team.

The Dutch national side has gone from reaching the 3rd spot of the 2014 World Cup to not being able to qualify to the 2016 Euro’s but despite their recent downfall and disintegration, Danny Blind still seems optimistic as the Dutchman is looking forward for what the future holds for his team.

“We didn’t make it and it is very disappointing for the players, for me and for the whole of the Netherlands. But we have to look towards the future now. We have to look forward and qualify for Russia 2018. That is our next goal. (more…)
