SEASON TO FORGET

Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder has said that he wants to forget the current season because he believes that next year will be great for him. The 28-year-old recently made the switch from Italian club Inter Milan to the Turkish club Galatasaray. Many wondered about the ambition of the former Real Madrid star, but he proved that it was the right decision by managing to make it into the quarter-finals of the Champions league. He almost helped Galatasaray beat his former club in a close run match. It was not long ago that Sneijder was extremely crucial in the treble for Inter Milan.

However, injuries and poor form have meant that the 28-year-old has not been of the best midfielders in the world in recent times, but he believes that he can get back to his best next season. Sneijder managed to celebrate his first Turkish league title after Galatasaray secured it following a 4-2 win over Sivasspor. Sneijder has said that he has been successful when it comes to league titles in Spain, Italy, and Holland. The success in Turkey now means that he has won league titles in four different countries. Sneijder was a € 8 million signing from Inter Milan. He has already scored three goals for the club in just 11 matches.

“I have won the league in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and am proud to have now also lifted the title in Turkey. I believe next season is going to be my year and I can’t wait to play Champions League football again. The quality of the Turkish league is very high, it’s no coincidence that Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have successful in Europe this season,” said the 28-year-old in a press conference. “Champions!!!!!! Thanks to all the fans, you guys were amazing again! Like always,” said Sneijder on his Twitter account.
