  2. Excellent game. Holland was a bunch of hateful cheats, minus, well, minus
    none. Even MvB joined the cheaters. Bad team, bad personalities, bad
    losers. Horrible Dutch really. A shame for national teams.

  3. Probably the low point of Dutch football, the spitting against Völler and
    the totally ridiculous dive of van Basten. They are better than that.

  4. Rijkaard with maybe the most disgusting action in a World Cup, spitting
    twice at Voller. What an ugly asshole.
    And still there are people in Holland and esp. Britain trying to justify
    that.

  5. You have to remember that germany was during the eighties till 2000 sneaky
    team with diving and all that shit they were doing. Not to compare these
    days where they are one of the more fair teams and playing great football.
    But then again not winning any championship-titel. The hate has i believe
    fade away against the germans among the dutch. 

  6. Sadly this chapter in the Germany/Netherlands rivalry will forever be
    remembered for Frank Rijkaard spitting in Rudi Voller’s hair twice and not
    for the great game that this was.

    You can’t justify what Rijkaard did. You just can’t.

  7. It was the best game in the World Cup in 1990. West Germany was the best
    team in World Cup in 1990. Holland was good, but they were much better in
    1988. Today the Dutch team is nothing in comparison to Holland that played
    in late 80s to early 90s.

    it will not be like this. What some of those Dutch player did was pathetic
    (and the judge was an idiot or corrupted).

    Well, we Germans should stop make fun of the Dutch national team, it is not
    worth the time and effort.

  11. You have to admit that although he scored no goals in this world cup Van
    Basten had a marvellous turn of pace and speed the way he toe poked the
    ball away from Kohler at 1:18:10 … he also snuck in unbelievable fast to
    knick that brilliant goal to beat the Germans in The Euro 88 semi finals
    and dump them out in their own back yard. shame his career came to an end
    at about 27 years of age. best european striker i have ever seen. Thanks
    for the memories Marco!! Irish fan

    best in Europe at the time with Maradona best in the world. All u people
    who call them dirty are labelling the entire dutch football history based
    on world cup 2010 final against Spain. Referee was a but unfair against the
    Dutch aswell in my opinion.

  22. This competition was really the first large tournament where I witnessed
    diving and rolling around feigning injury. It was all started by the
    Germans around this period. Then teams realized that they were at a
    disadvantage if they did not do it and all exploded from there.
