RVP TO FACE UNITED IN EUROPE

Former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is set to feature against Manchester United when the Europa League kicks off after the international break. The ex-Red Devils talisman who is currently with Fenerbahce after making the switch back in 2015. Van Persie started his career at Feyenoord, moving from the youth team before breaking into the senior team. This was before his move to England to play under Arsene Wenger in 2004.

Manchester United, Fenernahce, Feyenoord and Zorya Luhansk will meet in the group stage of the competition, meaning the 33-year old Netherlands international will play against two of his former clubs. The teams would meet from after the first break of the new campaign through December. September 15 and 29, October 20, November 3 and 24, and December 8 are the days set aside for the match dates of the continental games.

The tie would not be an easy ride for any of the teams, due to the distance and lack of information about opponents, though the netbet sports betting portal has Manchester United as clear favourites to top the group.

Coach Jose Mourinho of United admitted this when he said: “We know that it will be a difficult group, but I think that is a good thing. It is good for the fans and for the players because it will help motivation.”

Van Persie would met up with his former teammates when the tournament starts, as they make up Group A. Feyernoord would have to battle Fenerbahce for a spot in the knockout stage, as United are favourites to continue, based on the strength of their squad.

Southampton is another Premier League side still in the competition. They are in Group K after being drawn with Serie A giant Inter Milan, Sparta Prague, and Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva.

Robin van Persie would be crucial to the hopes of Fenerbahce after his decent show last term, and good start this term.
